Vice President of Land & Resources: Kathryn Martin

The Land Manager oversees the realty portion of the land department, including easements and rights-of-way, gravel leases, land subdivision and leases, land purchases, 14(c) adjudication and compliance. Deals directly with the merged villages to address merger related surface estate issues. Oversees and coordinates management of surface lands by villages under contract with the land department. Organizes and coordinates Annual Successor Village Organization meetings as required by the merger agreement, and oversees the development and implementation of the Merger Land Use Program.

Responsible to evaluate, inventory, and aggressively promote and market corporate natural resources. Negotiates contracts and agreements for development and utilization of resources, and monitors all resulting harvest, extraction or utilization operations to assure compliance with contracts and agreements. Develops and implements a geographic information system to help efficiently manage corporate resources. Reports directly to the President/CEO.

LAND & RESOURCE SUPERVISOR: Joe Bovee

Functions as a project assistant to the VP of Land & Resources. Involved in land issue negotiations, field survey and location of land use projects, field monitoring of projects, map work, research and technical assistance to the VP of Land & Resources and the Shareholders on all forms of surface and subsurface land management. He also acts as manager on projects and issues not clearly related to corporate lands and resources.

HOMESITE/SUBSISTENCE COORDINATOR: Gloria Stickwan

Under the direction of the VP of Land & Resources, this position is responsible for designing and implementing the Merger Land Use Program as outlined in the Merger Agreement between Ahtna, Inc. and its seven merged villages. Participates in organizing and conducting the necessary planning and work sessions with each of the seven villages. Is responsible to finalize and implement the policies and procedures of the Merger program. Coordinates and organizes the shareholder application process. Designs program methodologies, prepares schedules, obtains any required permits, and implements necessary field and office activities to accomplish described purpose. Also prepares leases for all eligible applicants. Reviews proposed regulations for Fish and Game, both State and Federal and brings recommended comments to the Subsistence committee.

LEAD GIS SPECIALIST : Ezekial Baye

Under the direction of the VP of Land & Resources, this position is responsible for the management of Ahtna’s GIS database. Produces maps and other media to help manage Ahtna resources. Responsible for assisting SVOs and Village Councils for meetings and reports requiring multi-media.

LAND & RESOURCE ADMIN ASSISTANT: Marilyn Joe

Coordinates meetings, travel arrangements and schedules for the Land Department staff, SVO member and the Land Committee. Prepares packet materials for all meetings and acts as recorder and scribe for meetings. Issues permits for gravel and timber resources and land crossing. She handles all correspondence for Land Department staff, maintains, and operates the Land Department filling system.

LEAD LAND PROTECTION OFFICER: Ray Stickwan

Under the direction of the VP of Land & Resources, this position is responsible for protection of all Ahtna land & resources. Implements Ahtna's land protection program and enforcement. Assists the Land & Resource Specialist to enforce the Ahtna land closure policy. Educates shareholders and the general public on private land laws.
